On Monday, April 5, 2021, the Executive Committee of Hellenic American National Council (“HANC”) held a plenary session with more than 19 attendants, including 16 Members in Good Standing and three observer federations.
Following the briefing by President Vassilis Mataragas, the General Secretary read the minutes of the previous meeting. The group announced more than $3,800 in membership fees collected and noted that HANC maintains an effective “tax-exempt non-profit” status with the Internal Revenue Service under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. A copy of the letter from the IRS evidencing such status is attached to this document.
The Members formally set the date for HANC’s Annual Meeting and Elections for the weekend of October 9-10, 2021 and established a deadline of July 31, 2021 for each Member to pay dues, provide a certificate of good standing, and certify their designated representative and alternates to HANC’s General Secretary. The Members also ratified the appointment of a five-member Election/Nomination and Appointment Committee, as well as a Membership Committee, each consisting of the same five individuals: Dr. Panagiotis Baltatzis, Mr. Costas Vangelatos, Mr. Kostas Hatzistefanidis, Mr. Paul Kotrotsios, and Mr. Theodore Tsafatinos.
The Members also invited the three observer organizations, as well as any other organizations interested in joining HANC, to complete the necessary administrative steps for membership prior to July 31, 2021.
The Members unanimously decided that those who have previously acted against the interest of HANC should not, now, be permitted to hijack the organization and unanimously appointed Mr. Aristidis Christakis, Esquire of Philadelphia, and Mr. Dimitrios Kafkas, Esquire, of Boston, to represent HANC in any potential litigation arising out of the misuse of HANC’s marks or other illegal behavior. Mr. Kafkas helped in the founding of HANC and drafted its initial organic documents. Both attorneys may be contacted with legal inquiries.

Την Δευτέρα 5 Απριλίου, 2021 έλαβε χώρα η Ολομέλεια του HANC (Ελληνο-Αμερικανικού Εθνικού Συμβουλίου) με 19 συμμετέχοντες εκ των οποίων 16 Αντιπρόσωποι οικονομικώς τακτοποιημένων Ομοσπονδιών και τριών παρατηρητών.
Μετά την ενημέρωση του Προέδρου κ. Βασίλη Ματαράγκα, ο Γενικός Γραμματέας ανέγνωσε τα πρακτικά της προηγούμενης συνεδριάσεως και εδόθη οικονομικός απολογισμός με $3800 απο συνδρομές μελών. Επίσης επισυνάπτεται στην παρούσα ανακοίνωση, επίσημο αποδεικτικό έγγραφο από το Internal Revenue Service (IRS), που αποδεικνύει ότι το HANC διατηρεί την ιδιότητα της «μη κερδοσκοπικής οργάνωσης» (non-profit, 501c3), ως απάντηση σε όσους το αμφισβήτησαν.
Αποφασίστηκε επίσης να οριστεί 5μελής Επιτροπή Εκλογών και membership αποτελούμενη από τους κάτωθι: Δρ. Παναγιώτης Μπαλτατζής, Κώστας Ευαγγελάτος, Κώστας Χατζηστεφανίδης, Παύλος Κοτρότσιος, Θεόδωρος Τσαφατίνος. Αποφασίστηκε οι εκλογές να λάβουν χώρα στις 9-10 Οκτωβρίου 2021, όπως είχε ανακοινωθεί σε προηγούμενες συνεδριάσεις.
Η Ολομέλεια επίσης απεφάσισε να καλέσει όλους του φορείς που είναι παρατηρητές, έτσι ώστε όσοι δεν έχουν τακτοποιηθεί μέχρι τώρα να επικοινωνήσουν με τον Γραμματέα και να τακτοποιήσουν τις υποχρεώσεις τους μέχρι τις 31 Ιουλίου, 2021.
Ομόφωνα η oλομέλεια αποφάσισε ότι οι «διασπαστές» δεν έχουν θέση στην σύνθεση του HANC. Ταυτόχρονα η Ολομέλεια ψήφισε ώστε ο δικηγόρος κ. Αριστείδης Χρηστάκης από την Φιλαδέλφεια και ο δικηγόρος κ. Δημήτριος Καυκάς απο την Βοστώνη, που είχε βοηθήσει στην ίδρυση του HANC ως τριτοβάθμιου φορέα το 1993, να εξουσιοδοτηθούν ώστε να βοηθήσουν στην ομαλή διεξαγωγή όλων των νομικών διαδικασιών, αλλά και στην αντιμετώπιση με νομική δίωξη οποιονδήποτε ενεργειών από τρίτους.
