Greek Hunger Relief Fund. The Federation of Hellenic Medical Societies, Member of HANC, in Cooperation with the Hellenic American National Council and All Organizations and Federations Lead The Way

The Federation of Hellenic Medical Societies of North America is organizing the Omogeniako Fund Drive for Greek Hunger Relief.
Our Board of Directors along with several leading members of the Omogeniako Community will be the Executive Committee for this important Fund Drive.
An account is being opened at Marathon Bank in New York City that is a subsidiary of the Greek Bank of Pireas.
Food will be distributed to needy Greek individuals as evidenced by town lists in Greece and to Greek philanthropic not for profit organizations.
Members from our Fund Drive Committee for Greek Hunger Relief will travel to Greece at their own expense to oversee the payments.
Everything will be accomplished on a voluntary basis.
Greek Hunger Relief Fund advertisements and names of individuals/corporations and amounts of monies contributed will be publicized for free in the Omogeniaka media.
You are asked to be a Committee member for this important Fund Drive in order to continue enjoying your motherland as a business and tourist destination.
Kindly forward this announcement to all Presidents of Hellenic Federations, AHEPA, the Cypriot Federation, and other HANC member organizations who are invited to participate as liaisons in this voluntary effort to save Greek lives!

Αγαπητέ κ πρόεδρε, Δρ. Μεζίτη,
Ως μέλος του HELLENIC AMERICAN NATIONAL COUNCIL (ΗΑΝC), Σας συγχαίρω για την πρωτοβουλία σας να προχωρήσετε στην δημιουργία Επιτροπής για αποτελεσματική βοήθεια στους συμπατριώτες μας πολυτέκνους στην Ελλάδα που υποφέρουν πραγματικά, ιδιαίτερα τα παιδιά.
Πρωταρχικά πιστεύω ότι ο καθένας μας προσωπικά πρέπει να συνδράμει, έτσι ώστε να ανήκει στην Επιτροπή σας. Πέραν τούτου, επικοινωνώ αμέσως με τους Νομικούς μας από πλευράς Ελληνοαμερικανικού Εθνικού Συμβουλίου HANC και το Executive Board of Hellenic American National Council (HANC) για την στήριξή τους αλλά και με όλους τους προέδρους των Ομοσπονδιών μας που τόσα έχουν προσφέρει τα προηγούμενα χρόνια και να τους ζητήσω να στηρίξουν την προσπάθεια όπως μπορούν, μιας και η Ομοσπονδία των Γιατρών που ηγείται της προσπάθειας είναι μέλος του Ελληνοαμερικανικού Εθνικού Συμβουλίου.
Στην συνέχεια επικοινωνώ αμέσως με τους φίλους και υποστηρικτές μου από την ΗΝΑ και ΗΕΙ και ζητώ να κάνουν το ίδιο. Θα σε παρακαλούσα όμως να φροντίσεις για τις ασφαλιστικές δικλείδες που αναφέρω ποιο πάνω ώστε να αποφευχθούν τυχόν παραλείψεις και εμπόδια αλλά και να αποφύγουμε ΜΑΡΑΘΩΝΙΕΣ συνεδριάσεις περνώντας στη πράξη και όχι λόγια.
Πιο συγκεκριμένα θα πρέπει:
1. `Όλες οι συνδρομές θα πρέπει να έχουν όνομα, ποσό και παραλήπτη κάποια οικογένεια πολυτέκνων που πράγματι έχει ανάγκη. Εδώ θα χρειαστεί η βοήθεια της Marathon Bank για να αποφευχθούν όποιες παρεξηγήσεις. Προτείνω να γίνουν μέσω Credit Cards για ποιό αποτελεσματική ενεργοποίηση.
2. Τα χρήματα που θα μαζευτούν δεν θα πρέπει να διατεθούν σε τρίτους σκοπούς όπως για παράδειγμα διαφημίσεις, έξοδα, ταξίδια στην Ελλάδα κτλ. `Όποιος θέλει να βοηθήσει θα μπορούσε να διαφημίσει στα διάφορα μέσα ενημέρωσης.
3. `Όλες οι επιταγές προς τους συμπατριώτες μας με ανάγκη θα πρέπει να αναγράφουν το όνομα της οικογένειας που τις παραλαμβάνει, το ποσό καθώς και το όνομα του αποστολέα. Οποιος θέλει να ταξιδέψει με την Επιτροπή στην Ελλάδα , μπορεί να το κάνει με δικά τους Εξοδα ο καθένας. Αυτή είναι μια σημαντική λεπτομέρεια για να αποφευχθούν οι οποιεσδήποτε παρεξηγήσεις.
4. Τέλος, βοηθήστε τα Μέσα Μαζικής Ενημέρωσης και ζητήστε και την δική τους συνδρομή και βοήθεια.
5. Θα πρέπει όλοι να είμαστε ενωμένοι σε αυτήν την προσπάθεια, σε αυτό το κάλεσμα.

Dear Dr. Mezitis:
I congratulate you and your Board for your initiative and I do agree with “Omogenia Responds and Supports the Greeks in Need TODAY”.
In order to be inclusive and ask our American compatriots to help, besides every Greek American, we need to use the second approach, because there is poverty in this country as well.
You can count on my personal support and contribution in order to be eligible to be a member of the organization and the support of the Executive Committee of the Hellenic American National Council (HANC).
Further more, I will ask our legal Advisers to give their OK for the effort so we can be legally right. We will also contact all Member Federations and ask them to follow and support your initiative as member of HANC, and I will go a little further and share my list of personal friends and supporters of HNA & HEI, asking them to do the same and help in any way that they can.
PLEASE make sure that:
All contributions have a name and amount. Please make a special request at Marathon Bank, so we can avoid misunderstandings.
No money will be spent from the collections to be used for advertising, expenses, trips to Greece etc Who ever wants to help they can donate space or by space in various Media outlets.
You should advertise 1st Deadline and all checks to be distributed to our needy compatriots should have a name of the family which will be publicised at the end along with the names and amounts contributed.
Because people have previous bad experiences, we need to do that, so we can have a clear face for everyone involved.
Last but not least please contact all Media outlets especially those that you support and ask for their support as well.
Let the Members of the committee know and to be ready for the war (outside and within) besides the effort and appeal for help.
